KAA GENT OPTS AGAINST PERMANENT MOVE FOR NIGERIAN STRIKER UMAR ABUBAKAR

KAA Gent  has officially decided not to exercise the option to permanently sign Nigerian striker Umar Abubakar from Foot Work Football Academy in Abuja.

Despite the buyout clause being a relatively modest €300,000, the Belgian club has confirmed that Abubakar will be leaving at the end of his loan spell.

This decision comes as a surprise to many observers, considering Abubakar's outstanding performances throughout the 2024/2025 season in the Belgian Youth League.

Widely regarded as the best striker in the youth competition, his technical ability, sharp finishing, and positional intelligence drew consistent praise from coaches, scouts, and analysts around the world

Abubakar's development at Foot Work Academy and his subsequent success in Belgium underscore the increasing reputation of Nigerian grassroots football programs in producing top-tier talent.

As he now prepares for the next chapter in his career, several European clubs are reportedly monitoring the young forward closely.

His departure from Gent marks the end of one chapter but opens up exciting possibilities for one of Nigeria's most promising young attacking prospects.
